POCO M2 MIUI Enhanced Edition 12.5.5 has arrived, improving app permissions and will explain MIUI 12.5.5 Update on POCO M2 All New Features.
Back in June, Xiaomi teased a new update for the POCO M2 smartphone that promised to “improve permissions management”. Well, it looks like the Chinese manufacturer is following up on that promise.
POCO Mobiles has rolled out MIUI Enhanced Edition 12.5.5 for the POCO M2. The update is a minor one, adding only four new features, but there are a couple of important changes to the app permissions management.
Here’s what POCO’s MIUI blog says about it:
“A recent privacy breach has prompted many users to fear that their phone is leaking the user’s personal information. In order to maintain the user’s privacy and protect their information, we have implemented new features to the permissions system for apps. After updating your phone, apps must be specifically approved before they can access users’ cameras, microphones, contacts, accounts, calendar, or Wifi. Applications cannot automatically read contacts, calendar, or Wifi.”
That’s all there is to it. The update weighs around 500MB and is available over-the-air for all POCO M2 units in India.
Besides, MIUI Enhanced Edition 12.5.5 also adds a dedicated Gallery shortcut to the Settings menu, along with the ability to choose a custom sound for the flashlight. It also fixes some issues, including showing battery percentages for apps that are not in use..

Other changes include an ability to disable auto-rotate, as well as bug fixes for the overall user interface. The new firmware will be rolled out over-the-air (OTA), and is a fast-to-ship update that is nearly twice the size of the previous version.
The POCO M2 is already available for purchase in India at a price of Rs. 20,999. It is available in Midnight Black, Tiger Grey, and Sunrise Gold.
